Bikram Yoga
As a certified Bikram yoga instructor since 2003, I've taught 90-minute classes at local studios for many years. As the teacher, and assistant teacher of the Anatomy class for the Yoga College of India Teacher Training for ten years, I have always had more information to share with my students than I've had time for in the class. Add to this what I've learned as a graduate of CSUN's Kinesiology program, and the knowledge gained as massage therapist taking continuing education in the field for over 30 years. I have more information that can be useful and helpful to students, whether beginners or more experienced practitioners, than there is time to share it in a regular class setting.
So, as a visiting teacher, I offer workshops and posture clinics, taking one or two hours to provide specific, or requested, information to groups of students. Bikram has given me his blessing to share what I know, focusing on the anatomy. I can provide precise instruction, for those just learning this yoga, such as the detailed mechanics of "lock the knee," and pranayama breathing (the main elements of a Beginners workshop I teach), and also more refined corrections for experienced practitioners interested in deepening each posture. I understand how muscles work. I can analyze each posture, know which muscles you are using, and which you might use to improve the integrity and depth of your practice.
Locally, I offer private instruction and small classes at my home studio for all level of practitioners. I also tutor certified Bikram yoga instructors. I can help with teaching techniques and questions about the anatomy of specific postures, building confidence so they become more effective teachers. Living in the Los Angeles area, I am grateful to have learned from Bikram, himself, and the most senior teachers, and it's my privilege to share what I've learned. No matter the student or group of students, I believe in teaching with compassion and respect.
I, myself, love this yoga. I want to share that with you.
